S.1126 – A bill to prohibit certain Federal funds from being available to sanctuary jurisdictions that refuse to cooperate with the Federal Government on immigration matters or retaliate against border security contractors, and for other purposes was introduced yesterday May 15, 2017 by Senator Luther Strange of Alabama (He was named to the seat in February by former governor Robert Bentley who resigned in disgrace.)

This bill would, in addition to other unwanted things, remove funding from cities to build a border wall. Needless to say this is another attempt by select members of Congress to ensure their (our) states are as unwelcoming and inhospitable as possible.

On the same day one other Senator signed on as a co-sponsor. Georgia’s own Senator Perdue.

Please take a moment this morning to call Senator Perdue letting him know you are disappointed in his co-sponsorship of this bill.

Please call Senator Perdue at 404 865-0087 and state…..

Please let the Senator know I am disappointed in his co-sponsorship of Senate Bill 1126 and do not support taking funding from welcoming cities to build an unnecessary border wall.

After calling please send an email to Senator Perdue with the following (or a personal version of it) with the drop down menu topic “Immigration” and the subject line “S. 1126”:

Senator,

I was disappointed to see your co-sponsorship of S.1126 – A bill to prohibit certain Federal funds from being available to sanctuary jurisdictions that refuse to cooperate with the Federal Government on immigration matters or retaliate against border security contractors, and for other purposes.

I support the welcoming of refugees and immigrants into the U.S. and Georgia but do not support taking funding from welcoming cities to build an unnecessary border wall.

Thank You,
