Congressman Hank Johnson held a Town Hall meeting earlier this week to discuss the raids on the Somali community in DeKalb County. The meeting was highly charged and deeply personal to many of the attendees including the families of those detained.
During the meeting Congressman Johnson agreed that he needed to visit the ICE Irwin Detention Center where the majority of the Somali’s were being detained.
Even if you are not a constituent of Congressman Johnson (but especially if you are) please take a moment to thank Congressman Johnson for hosting this important town hall and ask him to let you know what his findings are regarding the conditions at Irwin.
Please call Congressman Johnson at 770 987 2291 and ask him ….. Please tell Congressman Johnson thank you for hosting the town hall in Clarkston this week and I look forward to hearing his findings from his visit to the Irwin Detention Center.
Constituents should then send an email to Congressman Johnson with the following (or a personal version of it) and drop down topic of “Immigration”:
Thank you very much for your leadership in hosting a town hall in Clarkston this week to discuss the ICE raids on the Somali community in Georgia.
Thank you also for offering to visit the ICE Irwin detention facility and I look forward to hearing the findings of your visit to the facility.
I welcome all newcomers, including refugees and immigrants, to Georgia and to my community and thank you for reflecting those same ideals in Congress.
