As detailed in our legislation recap yesterday HB37 which changes current Georgia law to penalize private postsecondary institutions who provide refuge to immigrants by establishing themselves as sanctuary campuses. Crossed over from House to Senate.

It has now been referred to the Senate Higher Education Committee.

The benefit of this is that your Representative is now on record as having supported or opposed a piece of anti-immigrant legislation. Please go here to see how they voted.

Take a moment to contact your Representative and depending on whether they voted “Nay” or “Yea” let them know how you feel.

If they voted “Yea” send your Representative the following email:

Representative ???????,

I was disappointed to see your “Yea” vote in favor of HB37.

HB37 further exacerbates the xenophobic rhetoric making its way through our state and country.  I welcome all newcomers, including refugees and immigrants, to Georgia and to our community and expect the state legislature to reflect those same ideals.

Thank You,
