First please sign this petition asking Senator Perdue to host a town hall meeting in the metro Atlanta area. Both Senator Perdue and Isakson are notorious for steering clear of metro Atlanta and only being available to rural Georgia. It is great they do avail themselves to the rest of the state but the overwhelming majority of the population of Georgia lives in the Atlanta area. After signing the petition; email and call Senator Perdue’s office at 404 865 0087 asking him to schedule a town hall in Atlanta before March.

Speaking of Town Halls please go here to sign up for Senator Isakson’s newsletter and telephone town halls. The telephone town halls are occasional and usually held on weekday evenings around dinnertime. Sometimes he announces them ahead of time but usually you will just receive a phone call patching you directly into the conference line. You need to be ready now with a question in anticipation of the call and follow the prompts to queue in the “ask a question” line (or you can just listen but we need you ready to jump in with a question).

Question examples could include:
“What are you doing to ensure refugees are welcome in Georgia?”
“How are you using your position to stand up to President Trump’s Muslim ban?”
“Please tell us how you are supporting the sanctuary city movement.”
“How are you countering Senator Perdue’s deeply un-American RAISE Act?”

If you have not already done so please follow our previous guidance on contacting Senator Perdue regarding his sponsoring submission of the Reforming American Immigration for Strong Employment Act (RAISE Act) on Wednesday afternoon. If you have already contacted Senator Perdue’s office please do so again. He needs to hear from us that making Georgia and U.S. unwelcoming is not OK.

Finally let Senator Isakson know that you oppose the Reforming American Immigration for Strong Employment Act (RAISE Act).

Please call Senator Perdue at 404 865 0087 and state…..

Please tell the Senator that I am profoundly disappointed in Senator Perdue’s sponsorship of the misguided and counterproductive Reforming American Immigration for Strong Employment Act (RAISE Act). It is deeply un-American to shut the door to refugees and immigrants.

After calling (or if you do not call still send the email anyway) send an email to Senator Isakson with the following (or a personal version of it) and the subject line “Reforming American Immigration for Strong Employment Act (RAISE Act)”:

Senator,

I am deeply disappointed in Senator Perdue’s introduction of the Reforming American Immigration for Strong Employment Act (RAISE Act). This bill is very much misguided and counterproductive. Slamming the doors on refugees and immigrants is fundamentally un-American and ignores the tenets of who we are as a nation and the history of our founding. The United States is a country of immigrants with a long, proud history of providing safe refuge for the world’s most vulnerable fleeing conflict and persecution and our country has benefited tremendously, not only economically but also culturally, socially and in every aspect of our society, by every immigrant who has arrived.

Please take a vocal stand against this bill and do not sign on as a co-sponsor.
